DESCRIPTION
This is an antique wooden gun-powder case of Edo period.
The decoration is Copper.The mouth is bamboo.
It is a wonderful engraving technique with a paulownia crest on the top.This paulownia pattern is a family crest of Toyotomi Hideyoshi.
The paulownia paulownia tree was considered to be a tree where birds and phoenixes in ancient Chinese myths stop.
It has been treated as sacred since ancient times. Such customs have been introduced to Japan, and have been used in Japan since around 800, and are formal emblems that can only be used by the imperial family.
Such a Wooden Powder case is quite rare.
